  5. On the '386, you don't need to play games with backfilling memory, EMS, and 
  6. such - you just get a memory management program like QEMM that takes 
  7. advantage of the memory management capabilities of the '386, and go on from 
  8. there.
  9.  On the 286, though, you'll find that you need to (1) come up with a better 
  10. memory manager, AKA the All Charge Card, or (2) get your motherboard to run 
  11. with as LITTLE main board memory as posssible - preferably 0K, though 256K is 
  12. tolerable - and use a EEMS or Hardware LIM 4.0 memory card to backfill the 
  13. rest of your Base memory.

  15.  In your case, I wouldn't even bother with the '286 machine and DesqView - I'd 
  16. make it a single purpose BBS machine or workstation, and DesqView the '386 
  17. witl all of the memory I can stuff in THAT machine.

  28.      you helped another user by supplying a qemm.sys device= card for stopping 
  29. qemm overwriting the shadow netbios rams. I have deleted the message and it 
  30. is no longer on the board and I wondered if I could trouble you to tell me 
  31. how to stop qemm taking all the 640-1Mb ram or at least the bit needed by 
  32. easy-net, which is supposed to be netbios compatible. When I issue the 
  33. netstart command the machine just locks solid with qemm loaded but is fine 
  34. without.

  45. Subject: ATI VGA wonder in Herc mode using Bus Mouse with DV

  47. The above has been quite a trial to me. Extensive testing yeilds the following:

  49. DV 2.22 won't tolerate the bus mouse. DV 2.25 WILL, but only if it is told 
  50. about it in setup. If you try to use a mouse-using program in a window when 
  51. DV is told there is no mouse, and if the program does not maintain its own 
  52. cursor (like Norton Editor) but lets the mouse driver do so, "mouse 
  53. droppings" will be left on all windows, foreground AND background, regardless 
  54. of Virtualized windows (I use QEMM 4.22 on a 386).

  56. DESPITE all of the above, I have two programs that lock up when attempting to 
  57. use the mouse: Broderbund's Print Shop and Tandy's DeskMate. DeskMate does 
  58. fine if you tell it there IS no mouse. I *think* this is a problem with the 
  59. ATI mouse driver. My ATI bios date is ATI VGA Wonder, BIOS V3M-1.04A. The 
  60. software is ATI Technologies Inc., Copyright (1988-89), Mouse driver Version 
  61. 1.04, if anyone happens to know of a fix.

  82. I run a amateur radio bbs here the WA7MBL bbs that is written in pascal that 
  83. uses btreive and the only problem I have found is that if you are running 
  84. qemm as I run a 386 then you cannot allow btreive to use ems ram otherwise 
  85. you get an error from qemm.

  87. I have tried to look for solutions for this but there seems none that anybody 
  88. can tell me.
